Seguimos hablando de personajes exitosos, y comparándolos con nosotros los mortales, que aspiramos algún día llegar a ser si no igual al menos algo parecido a estas personas que se catalogan como los más exitosos del mundo por la fortuna que han acumulado.
Los banqueros del mundo continúan acumulando riquezas de manera inteligente, y no son pocos.
De los mil 153 personajes que la revista Forbes sondeó este año para formular su tradicional ranking con las personas más ricas del mundo –que desde hace un par de ediciones lidera el magnate mexicano Carlos Slim-, un gran porcentaje de ellos cosechó su riqueza en base a exitosos negocios en la banca tradicional.
Precisamente, Business Insider utilizó esos datos para establecer una lista con los banqueros que han logrado acumular las mayores fortunas del mundo gracias a estos negocios financieros, y este fue el resultado:
1. Joseph Safra
El brasileño Joseph Safra se ubicó en el puesto 52 del ranking realizado por Forbes en 2012, gracias a su fortuna calculada en más de 13.8 mil millones de dólares. El hombre de 73 años es dueño del Grupo Safra y ha sabido cosechar su fortuna con inteligencia en el complejo mercado brasilero.
2. Luis Carlos Sarmiento
12 puestos más abajo que Safra (#64) se encuentra ubicado en el ranking de Forbes, Luis Carlos Sarmiento. A sus 79 años, el banquero colombiano acumula riquezas que bordean los 12.4 mil millones de dólares, principalmente provenientes de su conglomerado de servicios financieros, Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores, que cuenta con cuatro bancos.
Según Forbes, Sarmiento se destaca por su ayuda social, incluso se dice que ha donado más de 400 departamentos a familias colombianas afectadas por deslizamientos y lluvias intensas.
3. Petr Kellner
La fortuna de este banquero de la República Checa se calcula en unos 8.2 mil millones de dólares, ubicándose el puesto número 110 de la lista que incluye a los hombres más ricos del mundo. Es uno de los banqueros más jóvenes, ya que con 47 años cuenta con un Fondo de Inversión del cual es cofundador.
4. Suleiman Al Rajhi
Los 5.9 mil millones de dólares que acumula el árabe Suleiman Al Rajhi, gracias al Banco que lleva su apellido, lo ubican en el puesto 169 de la lista de Forbes. Entre los datos que destaca la revista están su edad (92 años) y la gran cantidad de hijos que tiene (23).
5. Teh Hong Piow
El “Banco Público” de Malasia le permite a The Hong Piow contar con una suma personal que supera los cinco mil millones de dólares. El hombre de 82 años fue posicionado en el número 205 de la lista mundial.
6. Aloysio de Andrade Faria
A pesar de haber vendido la mayor parte del Banco Real, Aloysio Andrade Faria se jacta de tener más de 4.2 mil millones de dólares en su cuenta personal, principalmente gracias a los dividendos entregados por su otra institución financiera, el Banco alfa. Forbes ubicó a este brasilero de 91 años y amante de los caballos (se dice que tiene más de 150 “pura raza”) en el puesto 255 del mundo.
7. Uday Kotak
Uday Kotak fundó en India el Kotak Mahindra Bank, el cual le ha entregado dividendos por más de cuatro mil millones de dólares. Dicha cantidad le permite ubicarse en el número 270 del ranking general y séptimo de los banqueros más ricos del orbe.
8. Wee Cho Yau
Puesto Forbes: 290
Fortuna: 3.8 mil millones de dólares
Banco: United Overseas Bank, del cual es presidente.
País: Singapur
9. Bruno Schroder
Puesto Forbes: 330
Fortuna: 3.4 mil millones de dólares
Banco: Schroders
País: Reino Unido
10. Andre Esteves
Puesto Forbes: 377
Fortuna: 3 mil millones de dólares
Banco: BTG Pactual
País: Brasil
